Moments to Think

My husband and I escaped this weekend so he could have time to do our taxes. We always find a sunset a special moment to think ... this time we left thinking about the Sunday sermon.

Why was David a 'man after God's own heart'? Why does the Bible mention him more than any other man? He committed so many sins and did so many things wrong - yet he was a man after God's own heart.

David knew how to RESPOND TO GOD. As we Christians grow and learn more about the character of God, we move beyond our usual expectations of what God can do for us. We begin to see how important our relationship is with Him. Our lives quit revolving around us; they begin to revolve around God.

David learned that when he sinned, he needed to ask God for forgiveness. When he was afraid, he immediately trusted in God, not man or circumstances. When he needed strength, he praised God. When he felt down or lonely, he went to God and met with Him. When his enemies were defeating him, he trusted God to send help.

He did not wonder what to do - he began to praise, to intercede, to confess. He knew what to do because he knew the character of God and responded to God.

In your moments to think, I pray you are responding to God. If not, study the character of God - get to know HIM - you will be so glad you did.

Thank-you for these encouraging words.I see in David a man who was far from perfect, but still a man after God's own heart. This is a consolation for me.I may stumble but my God still loves me.
Blessings,Ruth

Wonderful post and great thoughts to ponder. Thank you. (I'll be thinking over that - responding to God - as I go to bed tonight.) Thank you.
In His love,
Tina
