Hot Day Opened the Lilacs

Yesterday all the buds were closed on my French Lilacs. Today was warm; actually it was very warm for our area. In fact, today broke all records for heat.

I was too busy to give the heat much thought, but as evening approached I found myself standing in front of a window trying to cool off. Immediately I noticed my lilacs had opened.

I grabbed my camera and hurried into the back yard. This is a tiny lilac bush, and the French Lilacs are later than others and much lighter in color. Their strong scent was powerful, everything you would want in a lilac.

The result of heat. God talks a lot in His letters to us about 'heat', 'pressure', 'times of testing'. He never promised that every day in our life would be easy, but He did promise to be with us. He also explained how the 'heat' in our lives can make us beautiful - tested, proven, strong, full of good character - a scent that will draw the unbeliever toward us!
