Harvest Time

Mona has shared some of her harvest photos with me down through the years. My Dad was a wheat farmer and this 'city' girl really misses harvest time.

There is nothing like it in the city. Nothing. Sometimes I stand on my deck and almost cry yearning for the smell of wheat, the activity, and the productivity. You can see with yours eyes the result of what you have sown. The barns and graineries are filled with new hay and grain. The pantry shelves are lined with all the canning jars now full for another year. The freezer is full or will soon be full. Harvest time.

In the city you may or may not have produce to freeze or can. Your paycheck comes ones a week, twice a month, or once a month. Seldom once a year.

You never get that immense feeling of 'what you have sown you will reap'. We forget how that principle is true for our spiritual lives, emotional lives, and physical lives.

We need that longer term look at things to really understand how important 'sowing' becomes. God says we will reap what we have sown - in every area of our lives - during an unknown time frame.

May you have a wonderful harvest - in every area of your life!

If you were blessed to have country roots, you will always carry them with you. I was born into a farm/ranch family and spent most of my life there until about five years ago. I miss it alot, there is a part of me that yearns for those country moments and memories.

I think living in Alaska was okay, but I always missed Montana, the fall season, and the harvesting. I'm back now and feeling good about it. Nice post, Connie.

These photos bring back so many memories. I was raised on a wheat ranch. My mom and dad both drove wheat truck. I went along with them many times.

I can smell the chaff now!
